Today's post is possibly about one of the most metaphorical movies I've ever seen. You can watch the movie for free by going to the provided link. |
Song of TodayImage of Today The reason behind today's image being so dark and unsettling, is due to the fact that the sheer darkness of the image relates to how dark today's topic is. Because the movie "Pink Floyd The Wall" was surely a very deep and dark metaphorical movie in my opinion. Survey Questions of Today | Topic of Today: Movie -Pink Floyd The Wall 1982 The first time I'd ever heard of this movie was from a good friend of mine. Honestly, I at first was skeptical of watching this in the first place. Since this movie is more similar to a musical in some ways. But not similar to the musicals we see today at all, it was more of narrating the movie itself through the song lyrics themselves. I found this way to be very new and creative. There wasn't much dialog conversation wise between actors in the movie either. The very beginning of the film started out in a creepy flickering white hallway, with multiple doors and rooms. Of course it starting out this way highly confused me and made me wonder just what the hell was happening. After the creepy hallways, it changed to the main character in his childhood. What basically happened during this time, was a short explanation of how the young boy was troubled and lonely due to his father being across the seas god knows where... While the boys mother apparently smothered him and isolated him in different ways. Then it goes to the boy being at school and the musical's song that plays while everything is happening explains much of what's going on. The teacher's are all mean and strict due to the recent war and take things out on the children. The movie plays a scene representing a deep metaphor relating to the children and how they're being treated. The children were wearing disturbing and gross fat skin colored masks on their faces, while they were marching/walking in a straight line into a meat grinder. This scene sounds morbid and something many wouldn't be able to watch, but it wasn't that bad. Because it didn't actually have blood or anything show. Anyways, the meaning behind this scene I didn't understand at all until my friend had explained it to me. This is only a short beginning part to the whole movie. The movie actually progresses and shows how the main character has aged into a middle aged adult and becomes married. But with the isolation that his mother put him in as a child, it has caused the main character to have been building a wall between himself and everyone and everything outside of reality. When his wife cheats on him with a random guy, and this was as quoted from song lyrics, " You were just another brick in the wall." Then what happens is the main character has a mental breakdown. The guy goes psycho and much of the movie after he psychs out is debated whether or not it actually happened, or if it was all just in his mind from his insanity. There's a must watch aspect to this movie in my opinion, and it fascinated me actually. I recommend at least taking an hour and a half out of your day and watching this movie. |
the way you wrote kinda reminded me of the way you spoke. u know those internet vloggers that do nothing all day and fake their personalities to try to appeal to lonely people on the nets aka almost the entirety of the people who regularly go on the net. yeah, that's what ur writing reminded me of. idk if that's a good thing, or a bad thing, but it's most certainly a thing. also, PINK FLOYD!!111!!! maybe i'll check it out in between binge watching fairy tail. ps learn 2 engrish betta lol bai
Comment from Simran?
This time I just read your Pink Floyd piece. A lot of what you wrote was summarizing the movie but you also lured the reader into your review with writing about the experience of seeing the film for the first time. The assignment was to write about something you learned or thought about this week. I got a little information about what you thought of the film but not much of what it made you think about. I would just like to push you to write more about your thoughts or what you learned in future posts. Overall you did a nice job of proofreading this and preparing it for publication. Thanks for sharing your piece. 19/20
I must be doing this too early in the morning. I read and graded your second post and I was only supposed to give the second post a completion grade. Sorry - You get full credit 5/5 for your post.
